LIVE ON RTE NEWS

St Patrick's Day 2018

I was very privileged to be on RTE News on St Patrick's Day to celebrate the wedding of Lauren Cummings and Andres Villegas, who are officially the first couple to tie the knot at the scenic Fanad Lighthouse in northern Donegal.

Home: About

WHO ARE WE?

My name is Brian Barr. I have worked in the Registrar’s Office in Derry/Londonderry for over 40 years. During those years I have conducted thousands of marriage and civil partnership ceremonies.

After my retirement from that Office I felt that I had so much more to offer people by way of ceremony hence the establishment of irishceremonies.com . Nowadays the notion of “one service fits all” doesn’t apply to my ceremonies. I very much enjoy working on an individual basis with couples wanting that “little bit more” for their celebrations. I'm delighted to have another celebrant, Conn who works with me so between us we can offer more choice for our clients.

I am married to my wife Carmel for over 50 years and we have 6 grown-up children and 15 grandchildren so life is always a celebration of something in our home.

WHAT WE OFFER

   Marriage Ceremonies

    Civil Partnership

    Baby Naming

    Commitment Ceremonies

    Renewal of Marriage Vows

    Funeral Ceremonies

what we do

We create bespoke ceremonies that are meaningful and  that will complement your special day.

The ceremonies can celebrate marriage, renewal of marriage vows, civil partnership, commitment to one another, naming of a new baby or other older family children and funeral ceremonies.

You can celebrate your very special day almost anywhere of your choice – home, hotel, stately house, or in the great outdoors (bear in mind the Irish weather). We will liaise with planners in all venues and supply you with lists of suitable musical artists, readings etc

Handfasting

In ancient times the Irish traditional act of handfasting binds the partners' hands together "tying the knot".  see the experience below.

"GRACE, WARMTH AND A LITTLE HUMOUR"

'Thank you Brian and irishceremonies.com for our wonderful wedding ceremony. We absolutely loved the ceremony and felt that it was a beautiful and authentic reflection of us as a couple. Brian was a pleasure to deal with throughout and guided us through the process in a very professional way. On the day, Brian delivered the ceremony with grace, warmth and a little humour! We were delighted with the end result and received a huge amount of positive feedback from our guests. Thanks again Brian! We would highly recommend irishceremonies.com for your next event.'

UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT

Hi Conn! We’re back home now and reflecting on our wonderful trip to Ireland. The highlight was definitely the marriage vow renewal ceremony you performed for us in Buncrana/Dunree. The words you spoke were spot-on and your suggestions for the design were perfect for the venue. Your flexibility and ability to pull it all together along with last-minute addition of live music by my wife’s family really added to the experience. Thank you so much for the memories that will last us all of our lives. Fred and Patti DuBois Chicago, IL

Handfasting

What can we say?? We can not thank you enough, from the beginning to the magical end, you were there to guide us and shape our vow renewal into exactly what we wanted it to be. For those of you reading this review. I visited Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge as a girl and immediately fell in love. I knew I wanted to get married there, but when the time came, my husband pointed out there was no way we were going to get our grandparents to cross that bridge and suggested we get married close to where they all lived. I agreed, under the condition that in ten years, we renew our vows on the island. Ten years later, we set out to make our dream come true. We knew we wanted to do a Celtic hand-fasting ceremony and we knew we had new things to promise to each other - but that was it! Conn guided us and created such a profoundly loving ceremony. It was everything we hoped for and more. We can not recommend him enough!! From the bottom of our hearts, you are part of our story now and forever. Thank you, Conn. Big Hugs, Joanna and Tony (Los Angeles)
